Haz-Mat Truck Overturned

Gates Firefighters responded for a tractor trailer over turned this morning on Rt 390 at Lyell Ave. Command reported a tractor trailer carrying 6,000 lbs of paper on its side. A level 0 haz mat was declared for fuel leaking from the truck.
MVA Person Trapped

Gates Firefighters responded for a mva early this morning on Pixley Rd. Command reported a car into a utility pole with wires down and a person trapped. L3792 Rasies $6500 for MDA
L3792 Raised $6500 during its "Fill the Boot" today working in the morning and in the late afternoon rush hours. L3792 surpassed the last two years totals to help the children of the MDA.
MDA Date Announced:
L3792 Will be collecting for the MDA's "Fill the Boot" on May 9th from 7-9am at the intersections of Buffalo Rd at Coldwater Rd and Chili Ave at Fisher Rd. From 3-5pm at the intersections of Buffalo Rd at Coldwater Rd only. MDA and the IAFF

Working Fire:

Spencerport along with mutual assist from Gates responded for a house fire this morning on Gillett Rd. 4530 was on location with nothing showing but further reported heavy smoke showing. Firefighters found a fire on the first floor B side and started an interior attack. Command reported a hole in the second floor and shortly after ordered everybody out of the structure. Greece Ridge responded as the RIT team and the fire was under control in about one and a half hours. Pics. Pictures by John Spaulding Rinere Sworn in as Lieutenant:
At the March 13th Meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners,
FF Chuck Rinere was sworn in as a Career Lieutenant. Chuck is a twenty-seven year Career Firefighter with the Gates Fire District Chuck will move to G-3.
Major Accident:
Gates Firefighters responded for a serious accident this afternoon on Rt 390 at Scottsville Rd. Command reported a multi vehicle mva with people trapped. Command declared a MCI for at least 20 patients, and there were four people trapped. RFD Quint & Midi 9 and Rescue 11 along with Rescue 1 from the airport responded to the scene to assist with extrication. Numerous other agencies responded to the staging area to assist. At the January 3rd Organizational Meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners,
FF Mark Warner was sworn in as a Career Lieutenant. Mark is a twelve year Career Firefighter with the Gates Fire District Mark will move to G-4 in the middle of January. Photo

L3792 will be collecting for the MDA in its annual "Fill the Boot" campaign. This year it will be held at two locations and times to give people a better chance of donating to this great cause. Friday September 28th from 07-0900 and from 4-6pm at the following locations: Intersections of Chili Ave at Fisher rd and Buffalo Rd at Coldwater Rd. MDA

Local 3792 Welcomes New Career Firefighters:
The Gates Board of Fire Commissioners swore in new Two Career Firefighters Lou Comenale III and John Weber at the September meeting. Lou is already a State Certified Professional Firefighter and will begin on September 15th. John will be starting soon and will be starting the NYS Fire Academy at Montour Falls or the City of Rochester Academy in the near future. Photo

MVA People Trapped / Fatal MVA:
West Brighton, Henrietta and Gates Firefighters responded for a mva early this morning on Rt 390 by East Henrietta Rd. Command reported a three vehicle mva with multiple people trapped. There were a total of four cars and one truck involved in the accident. Two people died in the red car. Henrietta and Brighton Ambulances transported at least three patients to Strong. Photos. Gates Firefighters responded for smoke from the basement of the ARC Group home on Ballantyne Rd. 4C173 was on location with heavy smoke showing. 4C15 declared a working fire. Fire Dog Passes Away:
The Henrietta Professional Firefighters and Dispatchers Association, IAFF Local 3738, announce the passing of Stanley The Fire Dog. Stanley was a member of our family for over nine years. Three escape minor overnight fire in Gates:
(April 11, 2007) — GATES — Two adults and a child escaped a house fire early this morning.
The Gates-Chili Fire Department responded to a call for a bedroom fire at 625 Elmgrove Road about 2:13 this morning. Deputy Chief Jeff West said that the partition fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes.
West said that there was not significant damage to the house, but that the fire did cause some damage to an electrical line that forced firefighters to shut off power to part of the house.
Because of the power outage, West said that firefighters advised the family to find somewhere else to stay until later today.

Homeland Security Grant gives Gates Firefighters room to breathe

Federal money will buy state-of-the-art face masks tailored to fit individual firefighters and with better communication features.
Gates Fire District Career Firefighter Tom Zampatori is wearing the new model face mask (the AV3000) and holding out the old model (the AV2000). The Gates Fire District has received a $51,837 Homeland Security grant which it is using to buy these state-of-the-art protective face pieces for firefighters, which are individually fit to firefighters and guarantee nothing contaminates their breathing air.
